I have been involved in an extremely unusual project recently that to me, highlights many things about being a true magician and living a life that has a lot more to it than working in a supermarket, going home, watching TV and falling asleep just to do it all over again the following day. As a Project Sanctuary Master, it was my privilege to contribute to the Soul Pilot's project - which is quite literally to go out and to save lost souls.

When we are young, we are told fairy tales - about evil witches, mostly older women, and wishes that lead to disaster; about magic gone wrong and full of dire warnings to not stray from the straight and narrow or else terrible things will happen. These things sink into a young child's neurology and there they stay, and there they sleep, and there they wait until the moment comes when an adult might want to make a wish, but all of sudden and seemingly from nowhere, there's fear. There's doubt. There's confusion. Bad things happen when you make a wish ... don't trust that genie in the bottle ... magic leads to no good in the end ... And that's a magic reversal in action, old programming that is just the same as brain washing or cult control, but here the cult is the Spanish Inquisition, reaching across the ages through the medium of fairy tales and affecting people in their millions, still here and right now.

Magic isn't so much about rituals or herbs, or even spirits and deities, than it is about using your will to alter the fabric of reality.

One way how this is done, and perhaps the most important of them all, is to learn to use your intention to change an inanimate object into a "magical" object - this is like adding an invisible yet perfectly real layer to the object that creates ripples of change behind the scenes.

The other day, I wanted to do something that involved using a poppet but I was fresh out of corn husks, linen wraps and wax. So I decided to use the materials at hand to make my moppet.
